Improvements To Transportation In America

Ford cars made transportation in the America popular. Henry Ford ,who was the inventor of Ford, had a system were each man worked on only one part of the car which made them fast and skilled at their job. This reduced the time for one car from fourteen hours to one and a half hours. Each car was exactly alike, so that it didn’t matter what car you got. Ford only sold his cars in black, and when his costumers complained and proclaimed“other companies sell cars in colors” he replied you can have any color as long as its black. Because Ford made cars available for the average family the ford car became popular. The ford model T was nicknamed “tin lizzie” “leaping Lena” “jitney” “flivver”. [2]In 1927 15 million cars were sold and by 1929 26 million were sold. The ford model t became a symbol of modernization.

The Eerie Canal was a huge improvement in transportation in America. The Eerie Canal was built in 1825 and resulted in economic growth because it was such a huge investment it took seven years to build and stretched from New York to the Atlantic Ocean. It was 363 miles across and afterwards many more Canals built. The Appalachian Mountains were a problem and there were many people who rudely laughed and said it couldn’t be done. The canal also enabled goods to travel at one tenth of the cost. The Eerie Canal was a huge improvement in transportation in America and is still used to this day.
