The
apostle of England
Long ago the pope who was
Gregory quickly walked through the crowded streets of Rome. While he was
walking something caught his attention. The slave master was selling three angels!
Pope Gregory capably walked up to them
and asked the slave master, ‘’How could
you commit such a sin and sell these heavenly
creatures? ’’So the pope bought all three of the boys. When he brought then
home he discovered that they were from England and when he talked even
more he found out that they knew not of god and were not angels. Pope Gregory was
greatly saddened and felt the need to teach them about Christ.
Pope
Gregory talked to his friend who was named Augustine and asked that he
would sail to England and preach to the people who knew nothing about God.
Augustine agreed and voyaged to England. The trip was very unpleasant. Augustine
happily landed in kent and told the king
boldly bravely and brazenly about Christ and the king
became a Christian to Augustin’s delight he also him tell the people about
Jesus.
Augustin
told the people about god and many of them turned to Christ. Pope Gregory who
heard of this sent more monks. On the Christmas of 597 A.D. more than a 1,000
people were baptized. Later Augustin was remembered as the noble apostle of England.
