A Battle and a New King
During the year 1066 there was a hugeconfusion about who should be king of England. King Edward, who was the last king, had just died. Willian proclaimedthat he was to be the next king becauseking Edward supposedly while he was dying wrote in his will that William should be the next king. William was the cousin of Edward, and Harold, (who also deserved the throne) was Edwards brother-in-law. Willian was from Normandy and Harold was an Anglo- Saxon. Harold was crowned king by the archbishop of York. When Willian heard this, he was indignantlike a cat massivethat had its tail stepped on. He decided that the only thing that could settle this was war. During the intense war Harold was fatallyshot in the eye by a intrepidsolider, as the army retreated. William was then crowed king.
William, who was now king needed to show his power because most of the the English men were not happy. William was mercilessand killed thousands of English men as a result. On the other hand, William was kind to noble men who extoledhim, and graciously gave then land he stole from Anglo-Saxons. William becausehe was opulently, capably controlled lots of the land. Noble men had to swear an oath of loyalty to the king. William started the feudal system in Europe as well as built many buildings as well as one of England’s most well none buildings the tower of London.
